Adaptation to museums

User-specific development and optimization of CultLab3D presuppose a close cooperation with museums. Therefore, an essential component of the project is to evaluate the technologies under real conditions, to adapt the processes to those of museums and to gather information on the pipeline’s temporal and qualitative behavior within the frame of a scanning campaign. Conclusions both on the further technical development as well as on the marketing concept shall be drawn from this campaign.

For this purpose, the evolved CultLab3D technology is tested on selected artifacts and under real museum conditions at the Liebieghaus Skulpturensammlung in Frankfurt and at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Preußischer Kulturbesitz (both are project partners).

In the future, museum staff will be able to attend a training demonstrating the handling and use of CultLab3D and acquainting these potential users with the associated software, especially with semantic technologies.

The partners mainly involved are:
Fraunhofer Institut für Graphische Datenverarbeitung IGD
